Mr. Sudhir Mishra is an Advocate in the Supreme Court of India and is also a Door Tenant at No5 Barristers’ Chambers in the United Kingdom. He is currently the leading Disputes and Climate Change lawyer of India. Few of his works are highlighted below:
Mr. Mishra has been engaged by Supreme Court's Central Public Works Department to argue an IA for the project titled 'Expansion of Supreme Court building for creating additional court rooms including constitutional court, chambers for the judges and facilities for lawyers & litigants' in the matter titled, 'Bhavreen Kandhari Vs. Shri C D Singh & Ors.' pending before the Hon’ble Delhi High Court in January, 2025.
He has been appointed as Amicus Curiae by the Supreme Court of India in the matter titled Ridhima Pandey v. Union of India (Civil Appeal No. 388 of 2021), which pertains to the impact of carbon emissions on the environment and necessitates an examination of the legal regime regulating such emissions in December, 2024.
He was awarded the prestigious International Visitors Leadership Programme (IVLP) by the US Government for his exemplary contribution and work in the field of Environment in the year 2005. He was appointed as the India Coordinator and Co-Chair, New Delhi of the International Section of the New York State Bar Association for the year 2011-2012.
He was felicitated twice by the House of Lords in United Kingdom and was honoured with the First ever ‘Guardians of Sustainability Award’ as well as ‘Environmental Lawyer of the Year Award 2022’
Mr. Mishra has been recognized as one of India’s Top Lawyers and a member of the prestigious A-List by Indian Business Law Journal (IBLJ) for 2024 and also in the year 2022-23. He has been recognized and named in the Forbes Legal Power List of 2022 as India’s Top 100 Individual Lawyers, 2023. He is also included in the India’s A-List of most recommended Lawyers by India Business Law Journal, 2023.
Mr. Sudhir Mishra has personally conducted more than 400 workshops in 300 protected areas across the country in last 20 years and has also appeared in more than 120 litigations concerning environmental issues before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, dozens of High Courts, National Green Tribunals, the Central Empowered Committee of Supreme Court and Statutory Pollution Control Boards. Mr. Mishra through his law firm has also represented leading corporate houses like Adani Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., E- commerce companies, Tata Consultancy Services, Cadbury, Tetra Pak, Hyundai, US Embassy, Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India, Heinz and all other business houses and has virtually been a stakeholder law firm in every important environmental matter in the country.
Mr. Mishra also heads the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)- Chair of the CII Sub-Committee on ESG and Climate Change and is also the Chairperson of the Environment and Climate Change Committee, Society of Indian Law Firms, India.
